GEOGRAPHICAL SITUATION

1/ What is the nearest airport to get to Baoussala?

Essaouira Airport -> Baoussala = 15-minute drive

Marrakech Airport -> Baoussala = 2.5 hours drive

Agadir Airport -> Baoussala = 3.5 hours drive

2/ What is the taxi transfer rate to get to Baoussala?

From/to Essaouira airport: 150 MAD / €15

From/to Essaouira city center and/or Sidi Kaouki beach: 100 MAD / €10

From/to Marrakech: from 800 MAD for 4 people / €80

From/to Agadir: from 900 MAD for 4 people / €90

3/ Where is Baoussala located?

We are 9km from Essaouira, at the end of the Berber village of Ghazoua, which is 10 minutes by car from the beaches of Essaouira and those of Sidi Kaouki (beautiful wild beaches south of Essaouira), so we recommend a rental car.

4/ How long does it take to get to the beach from Baoussala?

We are a 10-minute drive from the beaches (to the south the wild beach of Sidi Kaouki, to the north: the bay of Essaouira).

5/ Is it possible to rent a car?

We encourage you to rent a car for your stay in Baoussala. This will give you the freedom to explore our beautiful region, visit secluded beaches, Berber markets, and the surrounding countryside. A rental car can be delivered to you upon arrival at Essaouira Airport or to your home at your convenience. The rate is 300 MAD / €30 per day for a Dacia Logan. It's a basic car, but perfectly adequate for where we live!

6/Can a car seat be reserved (rental car and/or taxi transfer)?

Car seats are still not mandatory here in Morocco! We can, of course, reserve one for your rental car or taxi transfer; however, please note that the car seats we find here are very often of poor quality. We strongly encourage you to bring your own car seats from Europe. Most airlines will allow you to check them in the hold free of charge.

RESERVATION

7/ Do I need a visa to come to Morocco?

No, a visa is not required to come to Morocco, however you will be asked for a valid passport (as well as for your children), an identity card is not sufficient, because we are not in Europe!

9/ How to book?

Reservations can be made on our website www.baoussala.com . It's very simple and secure.

10/ If I book now, do I have to pay for the entire trip?

If the start of your stay is in less than six months, your bank card will only serve as a guarantee, and nothing will be charged.

If your stay is more than six months away, a 30% deposit will be charged to your credit card as a guarantee. You will pay the remaining balance on arrival in cash (euros or dirhams) or by card.

STAY ITINERARY

11/ Our plane arrives very early in Essaouira? From what time can we arrive in Baoussala?

No worries, we're used to this kind of constraint. You can arrive whenever you want, and we'll serve you a nice breakfast in the sunshine! Your room might not be ready until 2 pm, but you can absolutely relax by the pool (heated to 28°C all year round!) and have lunch from 12:30 pm.

12/ Our flight departs very late, until what time can we stay on the last day?

No worries, we're used to this kind of constraint. We'll ask you to please vacate the room around noon, but you can absolutely wait by the pool, in the gardens, or in our lounges to enjoy your vacation to the fullest!

13/ Do you have any travel cots?

Yes, we have travel cots available in Baoussala which we can provide in your room, please let us know in your reservation. We also have high chairs.

14/ What facilities do you offer for children?

Baoussala is a paradise for children, they love the heated pool, nature, the tortoise garden, our two Golden Retrievers and the trampoline also bring joy to the youngest ones!

We also have an artists' workshop where children can create (supplies are not provided) according to their wishes.

We also have a list of about twenty board games for them.

15/ Is it possible to have a babysitter come?

Of course, you should expect to pay €15 for half a day or €20 for an evening.

16/ Will we be able to do laundry during our stay?

We send your laundry to the dry cleaners; you give it to us in the evening, it leaves the next morning and returns the day after around noon. The price is €5 per kilo.

17/ Do you lend out pool towels?

Yes, we provide pool towels. No need to charge!

18/ Do you have a parking lot?

You can park your vehicle in front of the Baoussala entrance. It's public land, but there's no danger and we have surveillance cameras.

19/ Is there air conditioning in the rooms?

No, Baoussala isn't an air-conditioned house; in fact, we don't need it! The traditionally built house has thick stone walls that keep us cool during the hottest months of the year. Plus, in the summer, the trade winds protect us from the intense heat on the coast!

20/ Is there heating in the rooms during the winter?

Yes, all our rooms are equipped with gas or electric heating, as are the bathrooms. Each room also has a fireplace which we prepare every day for your enjoyment: there's nothing like falling asleep with a good fire!

RULES

21/ Can we pay by credit card?

Yes, we accept payments by credit card, VISA, Mastercard, and Diners Club. However, we do not accept payments by American Express.

22/ What is your cancellation policy?

- From the booking date to 31 days prior to the stay: 30% of the stay

- From 30 days to 7 days before the stay: 50% of the stay

- From 7 days prior to arrival until the arrival date: 100% of the stay

23/ Is there a tourist tax?

Yes, there is a tourist tax of 25 MAD per night per person aged 12 and over. This tax is not included in the room rate.

RESTORATION

24/ Is breakfast included?

Yes, breakfast is included in the room rate. We serve it from 8:30 am with no time limit!

25/ Do you offer dinners?

Yes, every evening we offer a set menu of starter, main course, and dessert for dinner. We need to know before noon if you will be dining with us that evening. The price is €27 for the three-course menu or €23 for the two-course menu. The price for children depends on their age: free for children up to two years old, then €3 for three years old, €4 for four years old, and so on, up to twelve years old.

Dinners are served, depending on the season, either in the living room by the fire or on the patio by candlelight in the summer. Fati prepares delicious traditional cuisine, using local produce bought at the market and always adapts to your tastes.

26/ Is it possible to have lunch at midday?

We serve lunch every day by the pool. We have a menu with a variety of dishes, including salads, grilled meats, burgers, carpaccios, and more, ranging from €7 to €12. We also offer a children's menu for €7.

27/ Do we need to book meals in advance?

For evening dinners, we need to know each day before noon whether you will be dining there or not. For lunches by the pool, we don't need to know in advance if you will be having lunch there.

28/ We are coming to Essaouira on holiday and we would like to come for dinner or enjoy a lunch by the pool, is that possible?

We would be delighted to welcome you for a poolside lunch or dinner in Baoussala, and show you around. However, advance booking is required. During peak season (school holidays): We may not have space available. Please contact us by phone at (+212) 6 06 06 88 85.

The price for pool access and lunch is €25 / adult and €13 / child up to 12 years old.

29/ Will we be able to access the kitchen to cook?

Baoussala is a hotel and we offer 24/7 hotel service. You will not be able to cook for yourself. However, Fati, our cook, is always happy to share her Moroccan cooking secrets with you!

30/ Will we be able to store baby food or medicine in the fridge?

Yes, of course, you can absolutely store what you need in the fridge in the main kitchen.

31/ Will you be able to prepare homemade purees for my baby?

Of course, with great pleasure, this will require a little communication between the girls on our team and yourself, and they will be able to prepare small purees or compotes for your little one.

PRIVATIZATION AND EVENTS

32/ Can Baoussala be privatized for an event?

Baoussala is an incredible venue for an intimate event (wedding, birthday, team building, etc.). For private bookings, we require a minimum stay of three nights, with the event taking place on day two. We only host one wedding per year; please contact us for more information.

33/ Can Baoussala be privatized for a family stay?

Baoussala might be a great place to gather your whole family; however, during school holidays, you need to book well in advance! Please contact us for a more precise quote.

ACTIVITIES

34/ Can we rent bicycles?

There are very few bike rental companies in Essaouira. We are located in the Moroccan countryside, and very few roads are currently paved. Cycling on these unpaved tracks remains somewhat challenging. We prefer not to recommend this mode of transport.

35/ Do you organize Yoga or sports classes?

Our personal trainer, Abdel, will take care of your fitness during your stay in Baoussala. He will come to your location upon request for private or semi-private sessions in Yoga, Pilates, cardio boxing, stretching, strength training, and more. He adapts to your level and your specific needs (more information and rates here ). It is recommended to book your training sessions with Abdel before your arrival, as he also works in other locations. To ensure his availability, it's best to book in advance!

36/ Do you have a spa?

We have a hammam, which is free and open to all for your relaxation. If you would like a scrub, please make an appointment. Bouchra, our massage therapist, provides excellent massages and spa treatments. A one-hour massage costs €35.

37/ How does the Baoussala outdoor cinema work?

The Baoussala outdoor cinema is operational from the end of May to the end of September. During the summer school holidays, we offer two screenings per week, on Monday and Thursday evenings.

The session starts at 9pm.

We have a list of films and cartoons for all audiences.

Outside of school holidays, we can absolutely organize a movie screening for you upon request.

38/ What are the possible activities?

We provide you with daily information on activities you can do in the area: Horse or camel riding, quad biking, surfing, kitesurfing, visits to the medina and rural souks, or discovering the lovely architectural surprises of the surrounding area...
